Welcome to my world

In 2001, while I was working as a producer and sound engineer there, BBC Radio 1 hired me to help develop a new service for aspiring musicians and DJs. I set about recruiting a panel of target users to help shape what we were making. It just made sense to do that

Two years later I found out that I’d independently invented my own UX processes, and I’ve been refining them ever since.

Through experience and self-learning, I’ve built a toolbox of research, design, delivery, analysis and strategy techniques.

I’ve obtained formal qualifications in project management methods, and my technical background means I have a broad set of skills I can use to bring together users, stakeholders and project teams.

If you’re after a unicorn UI/UX designer, I’m not it. If you’re after a versatile product designer and manager who can gather and wrangle requirements, run complex delivery projects, manage products long-term, grow your department and above all, focus on delivering maximum value to you and your clients then please read on.

A brief work history

I pride myself on adaptability - I think of all my skills as transferable and I enjoy finding the quirky things that go on behind the scenes of different businesses when I’m sector-hopping.

As a proud generalist, I’ve created B2B and B2C products across web, native mobile, voice and OTT in sectors including media, automotive, FMCG, finance, travel and pharma.

I have my go-to design processes and models. I’m a big fan of Information Foraging and Jobs to be Done, for example. But I also enjoy reading around and squirrelling away useful things.

I really love that lateral moment when a thing I learned in one place suddenly pops into mind as the solution to a seemingly unrelated problem.
